The title refers to a quote I once read to the effect that an expert's interests are an inch wide and a mile deep, while a writer's interests are a mile wide and an inch deep. Since I am not qualified to be an expert on anything, I must by default be a writer. Thus, this blog.

Beauty treatment or torture? You decide.
I got my eyebrows threaded today. I have thick eyebrows and I am terrible about plucking them, partly because after I pull out one or two hairs, my eyes start watering and I suddenly decide that inflicting pain on myself is stupid and who really cares how bushy and scraggly my eyebrows look, anyway?
So, when I finally look in the mirror and think, "Where did those woolly bear caterpillars on my face come from?" I break down and pay someone else to inflict pain on me. I've had them waxed a couple of times but it hurt and I didn't really like the way they looked. I tried threading, which is supposed to be less painful (and if you believe that, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you ...), but at least is over fast and does not involve hot melted wax being applied to my delicate skin.
I'm not exactly sure how threading works, since I can't see what's happening immediately above my eyes, but it involves a nice Indian woman holding the end of one piece of thread in her teeth, wrapping another one around it and using the two threads to quickly (and painfully) rip the stray hairs from my face. By the end, my eyes are watering but my brows are neatly trimmed and shaped, and it only costs $10. Not a bad price to get rid of those woolly caterpillars ...

I far prefer threading; I seem to be allergic to most waxes. But the last few times I was threaded I lost small chunks of skin so now I am skittish and have been using tweezers instead.
Ouch! Sounds like something I'd rather avoid. I've never gone to have my eyebrows done, and while I may have a few stray hairs, they are staying where they are! :)
And I never noticed that your eyebrows were thick.
