High School Graduation, Then and Now

Working in a high school library means you basically go through graduation every single year. Not only do we have the "normal" madness of textbooks and library book being returned, we have to deal with the seniors who are desperate to clear up their records so they can get their diploma. So far things have been unnaturally quiet and calm so it's likely all hell will break loose tomorrow and/or Friday. It's like the calm before a storm, only with books and teenagers instead of wind and rain.

Yearbooks came out today but I haven't really seen one yet (the library copy notoriously arrives after the last day of school). I did dig out my own senior yearbook not too long ago, when I found out that one of the girls in my graduating class just had a young adult novel published. SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT -- The book is Stray by Stacey Goldblatt, which you will enjoy reading if you like dogs or have ever been a teenage girl. -- END OF SHAMELESS PLUG.

I also recently found my best friend from high school on Facebook (see link to her blog on the left of the screen -- yes, another shameless plug!). So I've been nostalgic lately, as well as completely dumfounded and amazed that it has been 21 years since I graduated. This seems impossible, because there is no way I can be old enough for this fact to be true. Right???

Scary monsters! Has it really been that long? And who is Stacy Goldblatt? I don't remember her, but then again there were a lot of us.

Goldblatt is her married name; she was Stacey Mooney when we were in school.
